Things to know when replacing your water heater:
· According to Department of Energy, water heating is responsible for 13%-15% of your
home's total energy use. Tanked water heaters become less efficient over time because
they are not properly maintained and cleaned. Scale, lime and rust sediment builds up
and makes heating water more costly.
· Tankless water heaters only heat water when it’s needed, however, with a
tank water heater you are constantly paying to heat water.
· By using natural gas to heat your water, you significantly reduce carbon
dioxide emissions into the atmosphere while saving money.

EFFICIENCY TIPS
Fix leaky faucets and pipes. A leak of one drop of water per second equals 60 gallons of water a week.
Use the proper water level setting on your clothes washer for the size load of clothes. Use warm or cold water for washing clothes and cold water for rinsing.
Run your dishwasher only when it's full. The majority of the energy used in an automatic dishwasher goes toward heating the water.
When washing your face or shaving do not let the water run continuously.
